About Us

OUR STORY

Louis Liaw Chambers began on 12 January 2024 with one lawyer and a simple belief: that a law firm did not need to be large to make a real impact, but it needed to be specialised to deliver real expertise.

The Firm was founded by Louis Liaw Vern Xien. Beginning as a general practitioner, Louis gained broad experience across civil and criminal matters before specialising in employment and industrial relations law. That wider foundation continues to distinguish the Firm today, particularly in complex employment disputes that overlap with civil litigation, criminal law, commercial relationships and regulatory issues.

From one person, the Firm became two in 2024, four in 2025 and six in 2026. The Firm’s growth has been deliberate, with a focus on building depth and capability as a highly specialised employment law practice.

Today, the Firm advises and represents clients across the full spectrum of employment and workplace matters, from strategic advisory, disciplinary matters and workplace investigations to dismissals, Industrial Court proceedings, senior management disputes and complex employment related litigation.

The Firm is trusted by public listed companies, multimillion ringgit businesses and organisations with cross border interests spanning Malaysia, Singapore, Denmark and Taiwan. The Firm also serves as a trusted advisor on a retainer basis, working closely with management and human resources teams on their employment and industrial relations needs.

The Firm’s experience spans all sides of the employment relationship. The Firm has represented employers and employees, as well as CEOs, directors, senior executives, professionals and high net worth individuals in matters where the legal, commercial and personal stakes can be significant.

As the Firm grew, recognition followed, culminating in industry recognition and an award for the Firm in 2026. For a practice that began with one lawyer only two years earlier, it was a meaningful milestone, but the Firm sees it as only the beginning.

The Firm remains young, ambitious and committed to becoming one of Malaysia’s leading specialist employment law firms, while staying true to the principle on which it was founded: understanding its clients, finding the right solutions, standing beside them when the stakes are highest, and building relationships that last.
